This is actually Friday night before the ride having
driven into Mexico from San Diego. Unloading the
bikes and gear after arriving at a resort in Tecate.

The next few photos are from Friday night.

First order of business: Choose your ride.

To everyone's delight, all the rented bikes had
fresh rubber. Many had brand new rear tires
which would soon be put to good use.

Tim doing shadow puppets or magic, I'm not sure.
Not quite warm enough for a dip,
but it looks inviting.

Who's hungry?

Delicious chorizo & eggs that stayed with some all day!

Sidenote: I found out a few weeks later why the
waiter here gave me a bewildered look when
I asked ¿Tiene Usted algo salsa caliente? Oops.

On the trail. Or, is it a road? Sometimes we'd ride over
some really tough terrain that seemed inaccessible except
by dirtbike, Baja buggy, or horse, and then there'd be a
road sign. Unbelievable.

Some say that Baja is the most beautiful place there is.
While I'm personally undecided, I will say that it is always scenic, as you will notice in many of the photos that follow.

Whew! A break.

Most of the photo opps are at breaks or meals for
obvious reasons.

Saddling up for the next leg.

Warming up now. Time to peel off some layers.

A bit cool in the mornings, it was in the low to
mid 70's this time of year. Perfect!

Lucas, Luke, and Rad. Finally...We're doing Baja!

The fare at Ramona's. I think that's $4 & $5 per gallon.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Lounge at Mike's where home made tequila is served.
With the Rancho on generator power, it's lights out at 10. So that's why we were supposed to bring flashlights!
